Grou, the beginning and end of your holiday, was built on a mound and around the year 1000 the mound was heightened. The old town of Grou, as a protected landmark, is definitely worth visiting, and in particular St. Peter’s Church with its distinctive saddleback tower.
Instead of St Nicholas, in February the people of Grou celebrate the Feast of St. Piter. This Frisian speaking saint is named after the apostle Peter, the patron saint of sailors and fishermen.
