Fitted sheets, pillows and pillowcases are provided as standard on board. You only need to bring a sleeping bag, blanket or duvet. If you prefer to travel with less luggage, you can also rent duvets from HW Yachtcharter.

Yes. Friesland has many free mooring places operated by Marrekrite, where you can moor your motor yacht at no charge. These mooring places are often located in the middle of nature and are ideal if you want to spend the night peacefully by the water.

You can order a Marrekrite flag directly with your booking at HW Yachtcharter. This allows you to use the free Marrekrite mooring places during your stay.

At a regular Marrekrite mooring place, you can stay for a maximum of three days at the same location. You can also make use of marinas and visitor harbours. These usually charge a mooring fee, but often provide facilities such as shore power, sanitary facilities and water.

Mooring at marinas during the day is generally free. Some harbours charge a small fee for daytime mooring. At most harbours, a mooring fee applies from 4:00 pm onwards.

Fuel consumption depends on the type of motor yacht, your cruising speed and the number of hours you sail each day. When cruising at a relaxed pace on the Frisian inland waterways, our motor yachts generally use around 2 to 3 litres of HVO100 (diesel) per engine hour.

During an average week-long boating holiday, fuel consumption is often around 80 to 120 litres of diesel. However, actual consumption may vary depending on the motor yacht and the route you choose.

The fuel used during your holiday is charged afterwards based on the number of litres consumed. HW Yachtcharter has its own fuel station, where you can refuel the motor yacht after your holiday.

Our motor yachts are fully equipped for a comfortable boating holiday. On board, you will find a fully equipped kitchen, crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, sanitary facilities and comfortable sleeping areas.

Fitted sheets, pillows and pillowcases are provided as standard. Duvets and towels can be rented from us if required.

Depending on the motor yacht you choose, additional facilities may include multiple bathrooms, an oven or microwave, dishwasher, television and extensive navigation equipment. The exact equipment varies by motor yacht and is listed on the page of the respective vessel.

The price of renting a motor yacht in Friesland depends on the type of motor yacht, the rental period, the season and the number of people. A smaller motor yacht for two people is more affordable than a spacious yacht with multiple cabins and bathrooms for a larger group.

For a boating holiday, you need to bring less than you might think. Our motor yachts are equipped for a comfortable stay on board.

Bring practical clothing suitable for changing weather, shoes with good grip, personal toiletries and your own luggage. A rain jacket and a warm sweater are also recommended, even in summer. Soft travel bags are preferable to large hard-shell suitcases, as they are easier to store on board.

You can bring groceries with you before departure or shop along the way. In many Frisian watersports towns, supermarkets and shops are within walking distance of the harbour.

Friesland is beautiful to explore by boat from spring through autumn. May, June and September are particularly appealing if you enjoy peace and tranquillity on the water. The days are long and it is generally less busy than during the peak summer holiday period.

July and August are livelier. The terraces and watersports villages have a lively atmosphere, and many events take place. This is naturally also a popular period for families with school-age children.

April and October can also be beautiful months for a boating holiday, especially if you are looking for peace and space. Outside the peak season, however, keep in mind that the weather can be unpredictable and some bridges may have reduced operating hours. In 2027, the regular boating season in Friesland runs from 22 March through 29 October.

With several motor yachts from HW Yachtcharter, it is possible to sail on the IJsselmeer in winds of up to force 4 Bft. However, prior permission from HW Yachtcharter is required.

The IJsselmeer requires more experience and preparation than the sheltered Frisian inland waterways. Wind, waves and weather conditions have a greater influence on boating. We therefore assess in advance whether your experience and the conditions are suitable.

Yes, a boating holiday in Friesland is very suitable for families with children. The boating itself is already an adventure, and along the way you can moor somewhere different every day.

You can spend a night in the middle of nature and moor the next day in places such as Sneek, Joure, Lemmer or Earnewâld. Swimming, stand-up paddleboarding, cycling, visiting a village or simply enjoying time on the water from the boat, a boating holiday offers plenty of variety.

For families, we recommend a motor yacht with sufficient indoor space, comfortable sleeping areas and a layout that suits the age of the children.

Yes. Friesland is an excellent destination for your first boating holiday. Its extensive network of lakes, canals and waterways offers plenty of possibilities to choose a route that matches your level of experience.

You do not need a boating licence to rent a motor yacht from HW Yachtcharter. Even without previous boating experience, you can rent a motor yacht from us. Before departure, you will receive an explanation of the yacht and instructions on how to operate it. For extra confidence, you can also book practical boating instruction, during which we practise manoeuvres such as steering, reversing and mooring together.

Under Dutch regulations, a boating licence is not required for, among other things, recreational vessels up to 15 metres in length and motorboats that travel at speeds below 20 km/h. All of our vessels fall under these rules.

For a relaxing boating holiday, we generally recommend cruising for around 3 to 5 hours per day. The number of kilometres you cover depends on the route, your cruising speed and the number of bridges and locks along the way.

Try not to cover as many kilometres as possible. The real appeal of a boating holiday lies in the variety of cruising, mooring, visiting villages and enjoying the Frisian lakes. For a one-week holiday, we therefore recommend choosing a route that leaves enough time to stay longer somewhere along the way spontaneously–>

Sailingroutes

Almost all bridges and locks in Friesland are operated daily during the boating season. More and more bridges are operated remotely, which means you can often simply continue once the bridge operator has seen your boat on the camera.

In 2027, the official boating season in Friesland runs from 22 March through 31 October. Always check the current operating times and any closures along the way. When planning your route, also take into account the clearance height of your motor yacht.

Yes, all motor yachts of HW Yachtcharter are equipped with 230V electricity. The power supply may vary depending on the motor yacht. Depending on the vessel, 230V is available via an inverter and/or when connected to shore power.

Before your departure, please check the information for your booked motor yacht to see which facilities and power supply are available on board.

Because of allergies, pets are not allowed on board.

The boats have comprehensive insurance. There is a voluntary excess of € 800 for all boats. This amount is paid as a cash deposit on departure. This deposit is refunded when the boat is returned clean, with a full inventory, undamaged and on time. In the event of a late return, we will charge € 55 for every hour overdue.

Before boarding you can park your car near your boat. In our marina there is a large enclosed car park where you can park your car for free during your stay on board. On your boat keys is also a key to the car park so you can use your car whenever you please. Parking is, of course, at your own risk.

You can bring your own bicycles or you can hire high-quality bikes from us. When you collect your boat, if you tell us that you have bikes with you, then we provide foam rubber for placing between the boat’s side rails and the bikes. A bicycle on board is ideal for reaching all the beautiful places. Furthermore, a bicycle is handy for doing shopping or visiting a museum, amusement park or ‘oasis’-style swimming pool.

The waterways of Friesland, Groningen and Overijssel are the sailing areas of our boats. If you are an experienced helmsman, with our written consent, you can cruise on the IJsselmeer or the great rivers. For this we provide extra watermaps and a binocular. If you are you going on the IJsselmeer then lifejackets are also required. These will by provided too for you and your crew. Sailing the IJsselmeer is not allowed when the weather conditions are not good, and wind above wind force 4.

This is detailed on the inventory list. All you need to bring are; sleeping bags / blankets or duvets, towels / tea towels and torch. Under-sheets, pillows and pillow-cases are provided. There is a supermarket near our marina for stocking up before departure.

Your reservation is final when we have received 50% of the hire fee within 14 days after booking. The remainder of the hire fee is due 2 months before departure.

You choose a boat and your holiday dates and availability is shown on our free weeks list. You then book using our booking form. As soon as we have received your booking form we will send confirmation by email. After that you will receive the contract and invoice by mail. Upon receipt of these you sign the contract and send it with a deposit of 50% of the hire fee within 10 days. The remainder of the hire fee is due 2 months before departure, by bank transfer.

In the early and late season it is also possible to hire midweek, for the weekend or for a different duration. We put availability for these times on the last-minute page. You can hire all our boats without a sailing certificate. If you don’t have experience, you must take some handling instruction. For novices we have a number of instructors who can teach you to become a good helmsman within 2 to 3 hours. The crew also receives instruction about mooring and how to deal with the ropes. We charge for handling instruction, please ask for details.
