Stavoren is the oldest town in Friesland, and had its heyday in the time when it was part of the once powerful Hanseatic League. At that time it was on the shores of the salty Zuiderzee, now the freshwater but treacherous IJsselmeer.During the beautiful summer months you can relax on the terraces of the restaurants or at the various beaches.
The Center of Stavoren
Stavoren has various shops, here you will find a butcher, a supermarket and a fish stall at the lock (recommended!!). There are also several antique shops in the city.
