Because of its rich history and more than 70 museums, Friesland has enough attractions for you as a museum lover. The variety of subjects is large, from nature to industry and how the Frisians have lived through the years. In almost all towns and cities you can find information about the past.
Don´t miss the larger museums such as the Fries Museum in Leeuwarden, Museum Belvédère in Heerenveen and Het Friese Scheepsvaartmuseum in Sneek. Also, a visit to the famous museum of Eise Eisinga, the planetarium in Franeker and the Jopie Huisman Museum in Workum are more than worth it. Besides the larger museums, the ancient rooms and small museums can be very interesting also.
